On Sunday 12th August, we had the little man baptised at Old Newbattle Parish Church, with a bit of a party afterwards to the Retreat pub.

We had a great day, thanks for everyone who came along and made it really special for us all.

After a long pregnancy (at least it seemed long) he’s here.

Due Date fixed! 27 November 2006

Well, last week didn’t go as we’d hoped. Tracy did brilliantly, impressing her consultant in baring the manipulation very well. It’s just that the little fella didn’t want to budge.

So, now on to Plan B! Tracy’s booked in for a section this coming Wednesday, so he’s defiantly going to be here by COB on that day. Consultants do like to keep business hours – especially in the NHS!

Tracy’s charging round like a mad person, trying to get everything sorted before the big day, while I’m coming apart and starting to panic. Hannah, bless her cheeky cotton socks, doesn’t (yet) have a clue how her little life is going to change. It’s going to be a bit of a challenge for us all. Especially getting through the next few days, with a house full of grandparents!

To quote the Bard, Wednesday is “Once more unto the breach” for us. And by the end of the day he’ll have a Name.

It’s been a while since I’ve put something up. Too many excuses and things that seem to get in the way, what with getting ready for new arrival, helping out as much as I can at home and spending far too much time in the mad house that is work at the moment (need to do something drastic about that!).

Retirement Planning 27 June 2006

Posted by Andy in : Announcements,Luke , add a comment

Given all the publicity that Tony and HMG have been giving to making sure that we plan better for your retirement, due to the ageing population, Tracy and I have been thinking seriously about how to make sure our standard of living is maintained, into our retirement.

Taking a look at what’s available in the market, neither of us are convinced with what’s available. The current crop of retirement savings products, from all Providers are suffering from poor performance. Given the long term economic outlook, this does not look like improving much in the foreseeable future.

So, we’ve decided the best option is to spend all our money as we earn it, then become dependent upon our children when re retire. Both of us felt that Hannah’s long term earnings potential (although the outlook appears good) was a significant risk for our chosen retirement planning strategy. Therefore, we’ve had to take action to reduce this risk.
